Dwillo is a startup based in Rotterdam that connects students to global leaders through meaningful mentorship programmes. Mentorship supports students by navigating them through the challenges surrounding career choices, and help alumni to foster a new generation of leaders.

I worked for almost 2 years in Dwillo as lead web developer side by side with the CEO of the company. Together we designed a platform that won 3 awards (Philips Innovation Award, I Will Award and Holland in NYC Startup Bootcamp) and serves most of the biggest dutch universities right now.

I was in charge of all tech related stuff and beside pure development, this is what I did:

  • Design, develop and maintain new and existing features
  • Identify opportunities and risks for delivering the company’s services
  • Identify and implement new technologies, developing tools, coding standards, best practice, workflows, third party systems etc.
  • Identifying and prioritizing development initiatives
  • Collaborate with the founders and potential customers to develop use cases and specifications that describe the implementation of the company’s services.
  • Mentoring and advice other developers in the team
  • Participation in recruitment activities

  • Product development
  • Application architecture
  • Cloud environment & Distributed systems
  • Scalability and maintainability
  • RESTful API design & implementation
  • AWS
  • Elasticsearch
  • PHP, Codeigniter & Symfony framework
  • MySql & memcache
  • HTML SCSS, Bootstrap
  • Javascript with Jquery
  • Node.js
  • Third party tools integration
  • Team management
